Sports and much more

– by batsii

Hello all, Butch here. This is my very first blog, or any form of writing for that matter, so stick with me and we’ll see how it goes. What does “Sports and much more” mean? I will display my views on all types of sports teams and players, mostly baseball, football, some basketball, golf and a few others. Much more, well this will cover anything that peaks my interest, from my family to news, holidays, entertainment, etc. I’ll do my best to keep politics off this page, no sense in politicians and no place on my page.

I’m 56 years old, raised in southern Oregon and currently living in Northern California. My parents are from the Los Angeles area and moved to Oregon, when I was very young, thus I was born to bleed Dodger blue, the boys of summer, as legendary announcer Vin Scully refers to them, blessed us fans with another championship trophy. What an amazing playoff run that was, Dodgers had to get past 4 great teams to win it all ( the Brewers and Padres are no cake walk, especially in 3 and 5 game format), a total team effort! The Rams and Lakers are my teams as well, as for college teams, Oregon Ducks football baby. I was hooked on the Ducks, after my friend Pat and I, went to Autzen Stadium in November of 1983. We sat through a down pouring of rain and witnessed 11 turnovers combined, between Oregon and visiting Oregon State, in a game that is now called the “Toilet Bowl”, what a bizarre and fun game to watch, except for being socking wet of course.

Currently just me and my dogs hanging out in our small abode, my 8 yr. old granddaughter does come by for a few hours, after school and usually stays on weekends. She isn’t a big sports fan yet and is actually a San Francisco Giants fan, that bad influence comes from her aunt and my oldest, what’s a guy to do, lol. Most of my family lives in Oregon, including my youngest daughter, so I’ll probably be moving back there soon, it is a beautiful place, although I’m not looking forward to shoveling snow again. Living the last four years on the north coast of California, I have never touched a snow shovel. What the locals here call snow, I call slush and is always gone by 10:00 am. Very beautiful here as well, 20 minutes to the beach and even less to the redwoods, a very special place.

So far so good, I think, only time will tell the truth. I’ll be back for more, you know, sports and much more. Tomorrow is another beautiful day, rise and shine, seize the journey and enjoy your world. Nothing is written in stone, we have to make what becomes of us and ours.

I’ll catch you on the flip side, BattsII
